My Doctoral Research, applying a complex Social-Ecological System framework, analyzed the system level changes, interaction between the system components and processes that influenced the changes in a Social-Ecological System due to changes in a natural resource availability i.e., Water. In this analysis of systems, four propositions related to individual and community responses to changes were examined. Based on the understanding of the interaction between variables and outcomes, plausible future scenarios of alternate possibilities and supporting measures and policies were developed. This research primarily contributes to improving the water transfer planning process or other developmental activities that result in changes in resource availability. Additionally, it adds to the body of literature on the dynamics of social-ecological systems and individual and community adaptive capacity. The insights and solutions developed in this study may be extended to other places and developmental activities in developing countries exhibiting similar characteristics.

"Extending the idea of sustainable use of natural resources from my doctoral research further, my research works currently focuses on spatial planning and design issues related to sustainable development of built and natural environment. These include the following:
1. Revival of traditional water management system in cities and water sensitive urban design
Assessing the potentials for the revival of Traditional Water Harvesting System (TWHS) in the urbanized regions of Tamil Nadu by identifying the components of TWHS in a selected watershed and analyse its transformation and the extent of its deterioration and developing develop guidelines for their rejuvenation
2. Sustainable Landscape Design – Outdoor Thermal comfort and Embodied carbon in Landscape Design.
