School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada invites applications for doctoral research program leading to the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) with a vision to develop independent and scholarly contribution to the progress of the body of knowledge. The thrust areas of research may be within the broad general areas of Architecture/Planning encompassing all disciplines related to built environment and human settlements.

Semester Registration for all the students of B.Arch and B.Planning will commence from July 04, 2011. On the 4th, 5th and 6th of July 2011, the registration will happen at the Registration Counter from 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm only and on the 7th of July, being the last date for registration, it will happen from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.

School of Planning and Architecture: Vijayawada (SPAV) has been established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India in the year 2008 to cater to the growing demand of Architects and Planners and to promote advanced research in the field.
Allotment of Hostels - Procedure, Schedule and Regulations
The students of SPAV are requested to follow the procedure and schedule of allotment of Hostels for obtaining accomodation facility for the Academic session 2011-12. In view of the same, the students can fill up the "Hostel Accomodation Request form 2011-12" which can be downloaded from the website or can also be collected from the Admiministration Office of SPAV.

Vision Vijayawada-2030 workshop
SPAV has presented their IDEAS on the workshop titled "Vision Vijayawada-2030" organised by VGTM-Urban Development Authority on January 21, 2011. The vision focusses on developing Vijayawada region as a "Solar city" and introducing Energy effcient Building code in the Building Bye-laws. Focussing on Architecture and Urban Design, SPAV proposes to create liveable places, waterfronts, new inner city residential oppurtunities, safe, modern and Integrated transport hub and protection as well as expansion of green spaces through environmentally sustainable design.
Remembering Dr. Seshu V. Musunuri
Born on December 25, 1957 in Hyderabad, Prof. (Dr.) Seshu V. Musunuri acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Master’s degree in City Planning from the famed institutes of JNTU, Hyderabad and IIT, Kharagpur respectively. Later, he earned his doctoral degree from Cornell University, USA with a Govt. of India scholarship.
SPA Vijayawada is on the move
In the coming few months, the School is planning to move to a new rented campus in near Nidamanuru, Vijayawada. This campus is on the Vijayawada-Gannavaram airport road abutting the NH-5. It is situated at a distance of nearly 4.0 km from the Vijayawada airport at Gannavaram and is about 12Km from Benz circle, one of the prime landmarks of Vijayawada city.

SPAV submits re-delineation report to VGTM-UDA
The VGTM-UDA assigned the ‘School of Planning and Architecture: Vijayawada’, a research project to identify and recommend a new delineation strategy. Like most growing regions, the Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM-UDA) region is currently challenged with a spurt of economic and building activities in its surrounding hinterland, which is beyond its jurisdiction.
SPAV enters into MoU with NTNU, Norway
In furtherance of the mutual interest in the field of education and research and for increased international cooperation, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norwegian: Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet, NTNU) at Trondheim, Norway and the School of Planning and Architecture: Vijayawada (SPAV), adopted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently. The MoU aims at a number of collaborative activities and strategies over a period of time, which includes at the vision level the following:

Like most growing regions, the Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM-UDA) region in the federal state of Andhra Pradesh (India) is currently challenged with a spurt of economic and building activities in its surrounding hinterland, which is beyond its jurisdiction. Such haphazard growth has an alarming rate and is beyond planning control or development guidance.
Prof Ann Forsyth delivers lectures at SPAV
Dr Ann Forsyth, Professor of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University (Ithaca, USA) spent valuable time with the students and faculty members of SPAV. She spent almost a week in Vijayawada at the SPAV Campus between Feb 05 - 12, 2011. Dr Ann is in South Asia a part of a research assignment regarding transformation in urban peripherial areas in South Asia. During her stay in Vijayawada, she primarily interacted with the students of the Department of Planning, giving a series of lectures on 'Healthy Planning' and 'Techniques of City Planning'.
Jagath Kumari Dungi

Jagath Kumari (Assistant Professor of Architecture) did her Bachelors in civil engineering from Andhra University (A.U.), Visakhapatnam and Masters in structural engineering and natural disaster management from Gitams College of Engineering, affiliated to A.U. She worked as a teaching associate for the last nine years in the Department of Architecture, A.U, College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam.
Daketi Srinivas
Srinivas Daketi (Assistant Professor of Architecture) pursued his B.Arch (1991-96) from JNTU, Hyderabad, and M.Planning with specialization in Housing (1996-98) from SPA, New Delhi. He was involved in various architectural and interior designing projects during his practice apart from teaching in India and Eritrea.
Myneni Kranti Kumar

Kranti Kumar Myneni (Assistant Professor of Architecture) holds a B.Arch. from JNTU, Hyderabad and M.Sc. (Construction Management) from South Bank University, London. He is a practicing architect and is a registered with the Council of Architecture, India.
