The VGTM-UDA assigned the ‘School of Planning and Architecture: Vijayawada’, a research project to identify and recommend a new delineation strategy. Like most growing regions, the Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM-UDA) region is currently challenged with a spurt of economic and building activities in its surrounding hinterland, which is beyond its jurisdiction. The assignment also has the potential to develop a roadmap for clean and value-based regional planning, with conscious directions and collective integration of environmental, spatial, and socio-economic needs of the region.
In that regard, the SPAV submitted its final report to the VGTM-UDA proposing two delineation scenarios - conservative and moderate outlooks. It also made suggestions of growth corridors and growth nodes within the proposed delineations.
The outcome is based on analysis of varous factors like socio-economic change, demographic concentrations, building activity and travel charecteristics in the region. The report was placed before the Vice-Chairman of VGTM-UDA after a series of meetings and deliberations over the last month with the key planners and administrators at the UDA.
